The Reds have been strongly linked with the prolific young Argentine, as have Manchester United, with the starlet scoring 20 goals in 39 games in all competitions this season.

Liverpool could do with more options in attack after losing Luis Suarez last summer and struggling to replace him, with Vietto looking an outstanding talent in front of goal.

“He [Vietto] might leave in the summer. It is normal that the best clubs in the world are after him,” his agent Jorge Cyterszpiler said.

“If big clubs make an offer, we need to talk. The offer must be very good, not only for us but also for Villarreal.”
