Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart looking to make unique history

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is looking to become the first English ‘keeper to win the League Cup, FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League, with Europe’s premier club competition the only piece of silverware missing from his collection.

Hart produced a sensational performance against Barcelona which raised his profile in terms of his quality being among the best shot stoppers in the continent, but his team seems further away from winning the competition as ever.

Having lifted all the domestic trophies available to him, Hart is looking to conquer Europe and claim the record suggested to him by the legendary David James.

“I’d love to be that goalkeeper,” Hart said when told that no English keeper has won all the major trophies available to them at club level (via BT Sport).

“That is what this clubs is hungry for. We go into every game, the way we prepare for every game, even the League Cup and FA Cup are priorities. We set up to win those.”

Hart recently signed a long-term contract at the club and one would imagine that he is focussed on helping to  deliver the Champions League for Man City. However, on the evidence on their recent showings in the competitions, European glory doesn’t seem inevitable at the Etihad.

This is also a trophy that some only win once in their lifetime, therefore Hart will be anxious to see his club progress and show real pedigree on the biggest stage in club football.
