Here’s how the Blues players rated today:

GK: Thibaut Courtois – 6

He was at fault for Hull’s equaliser after a shocking error which gifted the goal to Abel Hernandez, but pulled off an impressive triple save midway through the second half to make up for it.

RB: Branislav Ivanovic – 5

Contributed to the confusion which led to Hernandez’s equalizer and generally had a poor game defensively which he will be disappointed with.

CB: Gary Cahill – 5

Cahill’s game was limited after being booked early on, but he still contributed with clearances and brave blocks from Hull shots on goal.

CB: John Terry – 7

Won his challenges and led his side from defence, an assured game from the Chelsea captain who deserves a lot of plaudits should his team go on to lift the Premier League trophy.

LB: Filipe Luis – 6

A reasonable Azpilicueta replacement, solid without being spectacular. Defensively the Brazilian was solid and contributed to attacking phases of play.

DMC: Nemanja Matic – 6

Had a good start to the game, but became frustrated with Hull’s midfield tactics which curtailed his game and meant he couldn’t dictate the play as he’d like.

MC: Ramires – 5 (Oscar 61′)

An ordinary showing in which he offered little to no creativity. The midfielder will be sorely disappointed with this showing as he was almost invisible.

MC: Cesc Fabregas – 7

Even when he’s not at his best the Spaniard can be one of the best players on the pitch. Fabregas doesn’t look like the force from earlier in the season, but still contributes assists and overall positive play.
RW: Willian – 7 (Zouma 80′)

Ever present in Chelsea’s attacks and contributed the cross for Remy’s winner before being taken off to shore things up defensively.

ST: Diego Costa – 7 (Remy 75′)

Was his usual aggressive and confrontational self, having squared up with Michael Dawson and being involved in a coming together in the second half, but will be pleased with his 19th goal of the season.

LW: Eden Hazard – 8

Scored a spectacular goal and thereafter carried the majority of the attacking threat for his side, without him Chelsea would be much worse off.

Subs:

Kurt Zouma – 5

Brought on for Willian to plug gaps defensively and it worked as Chelsea walked away with the three points.

Oscar – 6

Came on for Ramires to find more quality and creativity in the middle of the park, he was a little flat though and was thwarted by Hull.

Loic Remy – 7

Played the super-sub role perfectly, scoring what turned out to be the winner 92 seconds after coming on.
