Man City XI for 2015/16 if club signs £100m duo – enough to win the Premier League again?

Manchester City have been linked with a £100m double raid for arguably the two best young players in the world, but does it significantly improve their squad in the right areas to give them what they need to become Premier League champions again next season?

Man City transfer news

Here’s a look at how Manuel Pellegrini’s side could line up with these two youngsters brought in…

GK: Joe Hart

A world class goalkeeper looking back to his best, Joe Hart is certainly one player who does not need replacing by City.

DR: Pablo Zabaleta

A reliable hard-worker with quality going forward, Pablo Zabaleta is good enough to continue as first-choice right-back.

DL: Gael Clichy

Could City do better in this position? The former Arsenal man rotates with Aleksandar Kolarov but neither have truly excelled.

DC: Vincent Kompany

A centre-back surely has to be a priority for Pellegrini this summer, with Vincent Kompany looking well past his best this season, and yet no new signings appear to be on the horizon in that department.

DC: Eliaquim Mangala

A young player who has started badly but could improve, Eliaquim Mangala deserves another chance but needs a more reliable partner next to him and perhaps more in the way of backup.

MC: Yaya Toure

A player also looking somewhat past his peak this season, Yaya Toure has been linked with an exit on occasion but is still a big name and may get one more season.

MC: Paul Pogba

An outstanding young player targeted in a big-money move, Paul Pogba would certainly be a great long-term Toure replacement in the middle of the park and a great signing for next season.

AMR: Raheem Sterling

The other main target for City this summer, Liverpool contract rebel Raheem Sterling is on the club’s agenda and although he is a top class talent, this does not appear a priority position for strengthening right now, plus he could be hugely overpriced at around £50m.

AML: David Silva

A player who still has plenty of class, David Silva should continue on the left flank in his free role as the team’s main playmaker.

FC: Sergio Aguero

A world class striker whose only weakness is his injury proneness, Sergio Aguero should remain first choice upfront for next season without a doubt.

FC: Wilfried Bony

However, is another striker signing needed? Wilfried Bony has not done a great deal so far and doesn’t quite seem at the level that a club like City should be aspiring to.
