1) Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)
Linked strongly with a move to Arsenal, Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin has also emerged as a target for Manchester United and has proven one of the best midfield players in the Premier League this season. The Frenchman would also cost a fraction of what Pogba would at maybe £25m.
2) Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)
Available on a free transfer, Real Madrid contract rebel Sami Khedira is another Arsenal target who could be a great fit for Manchester United in the defensive midfield department, having shown his quality at the Bernabeu and for the German national team.
3) Ilkay Gundogan (Borussia Dortmund)
One of the finest midfielders in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan could be leaving the struggling German side this summer and has been linked several times with Manchester United. The 24-year-old certainly looks like he’d suit United’s style of play and could add something to the side.
4) Victor Wanyama (Southampton)
Another Southampton star impressing this season, Victor Wanyama is another emerging talent in midfield who could go some way to providing the qualities Pogba would, and again for a fraction of the Frenchman’s price.
5) Radja Nainggolan (AS Roma)
Another top performer in Serie A this season, AS Roma’s Radja Nainggolan has been linked with United and would be another superb, well-rounded box-to-box player to give something different to Louis van Gaal’s squad in that department.
