Arsenal rumours

10) Emmanuel Adebayor

A player who continues to divide opionion, Emmanuel Adebayor had plenty of good moments for Arsenal, but was certainly a great sale at £25m to Manchester City, given that he was largely inconsistent and capable of some horror-misses.

9) Sylvain Wiltord

Scorer of THAT title-winning goal at Old Trafford, Sylvain Wiltord played his part in some great success for Arsenal, though he never quite won some fans over with his habit of over-doing things and messing up simple opportunities.

8) Eduardo

A striker who looked like a great find by Arsene Wenger, one can only wonder what Eduardo could have achieved if not for his horrific leg-break against Birmingham City in 2008. The Brazilian-born Croatian was just never the same after that.

7) Nwankwo Kanu

A player who hit the ground running when he joined Arsenal, Kanu may not have achieved his true potential with the Gunners but remained a key forward for Wenger’s side for a number of years.

6) Nicolas Anelka

Signed as a promising youngster by Arsenal, Nicolas Anelka looked a world class talent in his short time with the Gunners, before he left for a big move to Real Madrid and never truly recovered. Arsenal fans won’t mind too much as selling him allowed them to bring in better players.

5) Olivier Giroud

A decent striker who could still improve, Olivier Giroud is still better than many give him credit for, and is enjoying a superb season for the Gunners this term.

4) Robin van Persie

A hated figure now after controversially leaving the club for Manchester United, Robin van Persie may have had problems with injuries, but was clearly a world class striker who provided many great moments for Arsenal.

3) Ian Wright

Past his peak when Wenger joined, but Ian Wright was still a top class goalscorer who helped Arsenal to the double in 1997/98, becoming the Gunners’ all-time leading scorer in the process.

2) Dennis Bergkamp

Not a striker in the traditional sense perhaps, but Dennis Bergkamp still scored over 100 goals for Arsenal and formed great partnerships with a number of big-name attackers in his time for Arsenal, establishing himself as a real legend of the game.

1) Thierry Henry

It was never going to be anyone else, was it? Thierry Henry is undoubtedly the finest striker in Arsenal’s history, scoring 228 goals for the club in two spells and firing the club to new heights as they won the Premier League unbeaten in 2004.
