1) Loic Remy

As well as his late winner against Hull City this weekend, Loic Remy has also struck important goals against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur to play his part as backup striker to Diego Costa.

2) Kurt Zouma

A superb young defender who has filled in well when needed to, Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma had a particularly strong game in the 1-1 draw at home to Manchester City, helping prevent what could have been a costly defeat when the Blues were not at their very best.

3) Filipe Luis

In at left-back for Cesar Azpilicueta yesterday, Filipe Luis is not a bad player to call upon if needed – the Brazilian defender won La Liga with Atletico Madrid last season and reached the Champions League final, forming part of Diego Simeone’s side’s rock-solid defence.

4) Petr Cech

A goalkeeper who would walk into most teams in Europe, Chelsea have had Petr Cech as their backup to Thibaut Courtois this season, but he has put in some fine displays when called upon, showing just how valuable it is to have two top keepers.

5) Didier Drogba

He may be 37, but Didier Drogba has played his part in Chelsea’s success this season since re-joining the Blues for a second spell. The Ivory Coast veteran has scored in big games away to Manchester United and at home to Tottenham, showing he can still be relied on to deliver the goals if needed.
