Steven Gerrard vs. Manchester United

What was the Reds skipper thinking when he stamped on Ander Herrera on Sunday..?

Martin Skrtel vs. Manchester United

Not only was Gerrard involved in a controversial stamp, but team-mate Skrtel was lucky not to have been dismissed for stamping on David De Gea.

Though retrospective punishment is certainly a possibility.

Diego Costa vs. Liverpool

The Chelsea striker was handed a three-match ban for violent conduct after this nasty stamp on Liverpool’s Emre Can – but the forward was lucky not to have been punished for a second stamp on Martin Skrtel.

Sergio Aguero vs. Chelsea

The Manchester City forward, somehow, went unpunished for this terrible jump and stamp on the backside of then Chelsea defender David Luiz.

Gary Cahill vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Poor Harry Kane… Not only was the striker kicked into the back by Chelsea’s Gary Cahill, but the defender added to the pain by stamping on the forward.

Mario Balotelli vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Controversy seems to follow the striker, sometimes harshly, but this nasty attack on Scott Parker while wearing the sky blue of Manchester City was indefensible.

Pepe vs. Barcelona

The El Clasico is renowned for its fiery moments, with plenty of theatrical falls from both sides, but is must have hurt when Real Madrid’s Pepe cowardly stood on Lionel Messi’s hand.

Eric Cantona vs. Swindon Town

Unsurprising that the Red Devils legend features on this list – Cantona well and truly dug his studs into the stomach of Swindon’s John Moncur.

Wayne Rooney vs. Portugal

Rooney’s bad temper got the better of him in his early England international career – the striker was sent off after targeting Ricardo Carvalho’s delicate parts.

Fortunately for the Manchester United skipper, Cristiano Ronaldo’s distasteful wink after his dismissal stole some of the limelight.
