How has THIS Chelsea full-back got in Guardian’s PL team of the year, along with Arsenal & Tottenham stars?

The Guardian have unveiled their Premier League team of the year. Perhaps unsurprisingly, six players come from league leaders Chelsea, while this season’s surprise package Southampton have two representatives. However, there is no place for any of Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City side.

Here’s the team in full:

GK- David De Gea

The Manchester United stopper has been Louis van Gaal’s best player this season, keeping them in plenty of games they were in danger of losing.

RB- Nathanial Clyne

Clyne has been part of a solid Southampton defence this year, and his form has seen him brought into the international fold.

CB- Toby Alderweireld

The Belgian centre-back’s performances this campaign have led to plenty of speculation that he may be moving to one of the league’s top sides next season.

CB- John Terry

The experienced defender is enjoying one of the best spells of his career despite being in his mid-thirties.

LB- Cesar Azpilicueta

Azpilicueta has been solid for Jose Mourinho’s men, but has arguably not been outstanding, and there are perhaps more deserving candidates.

RM- Alexis Sanchez

The Arsenal man has had a great year at the Emirates, bagging 13 goals in the Premier League, and helping the Gunners to a place in the top four.

CM- Cesc Fabregas

The midfielder may apparently tail off in the second half of the season, but he’s been crucial to Chelsea’s charge to the title.

CM- Nemanja Matic

Matic has provided a lot of defensive cover for his team this season, allowing his fellow midfielders to provide support for the strikers.

LM- Eden Hazard

The tricky winger has caused defences so many problems. His manager has already suggested that he’s the league’s player of the season.

ST- Diego Costa

Costa hit the ground running since his move from Atletico Madrid in the summer, scoring 19 goals in his debut Premier League season.

ST- Harry Kane

The Spurs frontman’s emergence has been spectacular this campaign. He has hit the back of the net 19 times, and looks set for an England debut this week.
