Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere tipped to replace Xavi at Barcelona

Jack Wilshere has been tipped to replace the outgoing Xavi this summer in Barcelona’s midfield according to Spanish news website Sport.

Wilshere was suggested along with the likes of Angel di Maria, Paul Pogba and Arsenal teammate Santi Cazorla.

The news comes as Xavi is believed to have signed a deal with Qatari club Al-Saad which Sport claims will be announced later this week with the 35-year-old World Cup set to move to the Middle East in July.

Marco Verratti, Joao Moutinho and Ilkay Gundogan of Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with Barcelona as potential replacements for the legendary Cataln midfielder who has featured over 751 times for Barcelona.

It’s unclear how the naming of Wilshere will be received in north London with the 23-year-old suffering a number of injuries since his breakout season in 2010, the England star has failed to play for Arsenal since November after suffering serious ankle ligament damage.
