Five Championship players who may be on the way to Premier League, as Liverpool renew interest in Will Hughes

According to the Metro, Liverpool will make a staggering £15m bid for Derby midfielder Will Hughes. The 19-year-old continues to impress for the Rams, and the figure required to prise him away from Steve McLaren highlights the standard of the young prospects currently coming through in the second tier.

Here are five other players that may be attracting the interest of Premier League clubs this summer:

Tyrone Mings (Ipswich Town)

The 22-year-old was released by Southampton when he was younger. But, he hasn’t let the rejection stand in his way, as the centre-back has now become a crucial part of Mick McCarthy’s plans at Portman Road. His performances helped keep Ipswich in contention for a promotion or play-off spot for much of the season, despite many tipping them to go down.

The Daily Mail reported that Arsenal were keen, but interestingly his dad works as a scout at Chelsea.

Cauley Woodrow (Fulham)

Cauley Woodrow is yet to establish himself as a first-team regular at Craven Cottage, with the majority of appearances coming from the bench. That somewhat justifies his poor return of three Championship goals this season. But there is clearly quality there. The 20-year-old is now an England under-21 international.

Alex Mowatt (Leeds United)

Much of Neil Redfearn’s young side leading the recovery after a shocking start to the season, are looking promising at the moment. Lewis Cook and Sam Byram have been touted as stars of the team, but the real driving force behind the push away from relegation has been Alex Mowatt. The midfielder has scored eight times this campaign.

Liverpool have reportedly been the watch Mowatt, according to the Daily Mirror.

Demarai Gray (Birmingham City)

The exciting winger has become a key part of things at St Andrews this season, and has helped them also move away from the relegation zone. His creativity are getting plenty of other clubs interested.

His most likely move could be to promotion-favourites Bournemouth, who had a series of bids rejected for the player in January.

Nathan Redmond (Norwich City)

Another tricky, pacey wide man. Nathan Redmond has helped Norwich get right into the promotion mix under new boss Alex Neil. Unlike the others players included in the list, he does have Premier League experience, which may appeal to any potential suitors.

If Norwich fail to go up, then perhaps Liverpool may come back in for the player, having reportedly been interested in January, according to the Daily Mail.
