10) Nottingham Forest (1865)

A side that would go on to achieve great things under Brian Clough, winning two European Cups, Nottingham Forest are one of the oldest football clubs in the world after being founded all the way back in 1865.

9) Wrexham (1864)

Now a Conference side, Wrexham have perhaps never achieved a huge amount in the game, but remain a well supported and traditional old football club.

8) Brigg Town (1864)

Known as ‘the Zebras’, Brigg Town may not be the most famous football club on the planet, but the Northern Premier League Division One South side are one of the oldest.

7) Bradford Park Avenue AFC (1863)

Not in any way connected with the more well known Bradord City, Bradford Park Avenue AFC are another of the oldest football clubs in existence.

6) Stoke City (1863)

Undoubtedly the most successful side on the list at the moment, Premier League outfit Stoke City were founded all the way back in 1863 and are up there with the oldest clubs in the world.

5) Notts County (1862)

Another famous side from the lower divisions, Notts County were founded in 1862 and their kit colour also went on to inspire Juventus’ choice of shirt in 1903.

4) Worksop Town (1861)

Currently playing in the Northern Counties East League, Worksop Town FC is another of the very oldest football clubs in existence, having been founded in 1861.

3) Cray Wanderers (1860)

A team who has never progressed past the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup, Cray Wanderers are a relatively unknown side who happen to be one of the oldest on the planet.

Second oldest in the world and supposedly rhe first to win a football trophy, Hallam FC have a proud history since being founded in 1860.

The oldest football club still active in the world, Sheffield FC may not have achieved what the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and United have, but they remain key figures in the history of English football, developing rules for the game that strongly influenced many still used today.
