While neither Evian nor Nice are truly clear of relegation yet this season, Les Aiglons did their chances of beating the drop no harm last weekend. Having been defeat at home by En Avant de Guingamp, they responded superbly and travelled to Olympique Lyonnais to beat the title hopefuls 2-1.

The result puts Nice five points clear of Toulouse in 18th with eight games to play.

Evian, however, were unable to build on a run of three straight victories earlier in the year and lost two on the bounce before beating Montpellier Herault Sport Club 1-0 last weekend.

Pascal Dupraz’s side will be hoping to secure another victory at the Allianz Riviera, but will be without several key players.

Mathieu Duhamel continues to struggle with thigh trouble and faces another three weeks out, according to Evian’s official side, while forward Gilles Sunu is due another week on the sidelines due to his own thigh troubles.

Evaluation still needs to be made on midfielder Olivier Sorlin, while David Ramirez is set to return to training this weekend.

Finally, there is better news for full-back Youssouf Sabaly, who has returned to training.
