Manchester United take former Manchester City player on trial

While Chelsea made some good moves for Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa and Arsenal did well to get Alexis Sanchez, who hasn’t succeeded with their transfers?

Here are the ten worst according to the Daily Mail, what do you think?

10) Fernando, Porto to Manchester City

Arrived hoping to build on the Citizens’ title win last time round, but will end the season without a single trophy. The defensive midfielder’s inability to cover for the mid-season loss of Yaya Toure is one of the many reasons why this has happened.

9) Rickie Lambert, Southampton to Liverpool

At only £4 million and coming from a team with a similar style to the Reds, this seemed an astute signing from Brendan Rodgers. However, Lambert has struggled to settle, and seems unable to fit in to the fast paced style that the side play.

8) Angel Di Maria, Real Madrid to Manchester United

When you pay nearly £60 million for a player you expect a bit more than the 26-year-old has been able to deliver. The winger is in danger of being dropped, which is incredible when you consider the hype around the winger when he was first signed.

7) Gareth Barry, Manchester City to Everton

After a successful loan deal in the last campaign it seemed a no brainer to sign the midfielder for free. However, he has since been a part of one of the Toffees worst seasons since the pre-Moyes era.

6) Mario Balotelli, AC Milan to Liverpool

Not many players have been a flop as much as the 24-year-old. He can now add the Merseyside club to Manchester City and AC Milan to where he has failed to deliver.

5) Mauro Zarate, Velez Sarsfield to West Ham

The 28-year-old has already been loaned out by the East London club to QPR, who have since attempted to send him back according to the Mail. Not a great first season in the Premier League.

4) Radamel Falcao, AS Monaco to Manchester United (loan)

Once one of the best strikers in the world, the Colombian has been unable to replicate his former results at Old Trafford. It is now looking unlikely that Louis van Gaal will make the striker’s move permanent.

3) Rio Ferdinand, Manchester United to QPR

The Rs have developed a reputation for giving massive wages to past it players, and they haven’t exactly helped themselves with this move. It has also not helped Ferdinand’s legacy to end his otherwise brilliant career there.

2) Eliaquim Mangala, Porto to Manchester City

One of the most expensive defenders ever after his £32 million transfer, but Martin Demichelis is currently preferred to the Frenchman. When will the Sky Blues find someone to play alongside Vincent Kompany?

1) Emmanuel Riviere, AS Monaco to Newcastle United

No Premier League goals in 17 appearances and generally awful all round play, the striker is a poster boy for everything that is wrong with the Magpies – overpriced, not enough effort, and disliked by fans.
