Queretaro manager punishes Ronaldinho after training absence

Queretaro beat Puebla in a penalty shootout last Sunday to lift the friendly ‘Copa El Rancho’ trophy. The game ended 3-3 after 90 minutes.

Ronaldinho himself got on the scoresheet, bagging the opening goal in the seventh minute from the penalty spot. William Da Silva doubled their lead in the 28th minute but Sergio Perez pulled one back for Puebla just before the break.

It took until the 79th minute for Puebla to equalise, but their hearts were broken when an own goal from Robles with just one minute of the ninety remaining looked set to give Queretaro the win. However, deep in injury time Alfonso Tamay scored to force the game into a dreaded penalty shootout.

Luis Gabriel Rey and Mario de Luna missed their penalties while Queretaro scored all theirs.

Queretaro will resume their Liga MX duties on Saturday night when they visit Leon, while Puebla will play at home against Toluca.

After the match, Ronaldinho shared an image on his Twitter account which showed him in the dressing room holding the trophy:
