The Daily Telegraph sites TuttomercatoWeb who claim the defender will leave Portugal at the end of the season which has a number of European heavyweights alerted to his availability.

Just why United would need another full-back only one season after signing Luke Shaw – granted he hasn’t always impressed van Gaal – and the defensively able Daley Blind, is anyone’s guess.

However, Sandro’s versatility – he’s robust at the back but adept going forward – has a number of suitors chasing his signature and may have convinced the Red Devils he has the potential to improve their side.

Meanwhile another potential United target according to the Telegraph, Nigel de Jong, has revealed a decision will be taken over his future in the coming weeks.

The Dutchman could be one of a number of players exiting the Serie A giants this summer with the club preparing for a vast overhaul in managerial, player and directorial personnel.

“I haven’t decided yet and I don’t know when I will make that decision,” said de Jong.

“It could be at the end of April or at the end of the season. First of all I want to figure out what Milan’s plans are to get back to being the great club of the past.”
