Arsenal sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane for £50m

The Express reported an ‘exclusive’ that Arsenal have agreed a £50m deal with Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of the Premier League’s joint top-scorer Harry Kane.

The Daily Express comically write that Arsene Wenger ‘is believed to have locked himself away in his house for 48 hours straight following the defeat – watching continuous re-runs of Kane’s performance,’ and ‘hatched a plan’ to land the striker.

Wayne Rooney liver bird tattoo

According to the Daily Star, Manchester United captain and Everton fan Wayne Rooney lost a bet with some of his Liverpool pals, and as a result had to have the Liver bird tattooed on his arm with YNWA – You’ll Never Walk Alone – underneath.

The Daily Star said that the reason Rooney always wears an under-layer is to cover up the inking.

Lady Gaga saves Serie A outfit Parma

BBC Sport reported that Parma had officially been declared bankrupt in March, and Forza Italian Football played an April Fools’ prank in claiming that pop singer Lady Gaga, while on holiday in Italy, decided to buy the club – with an initial investment of €8.6m.

Arsenal to be sponsored by injury claims company

Arsenal have become renowned for their dismal injury record, and the Metro took advantage of their woes by making the claim that injury claims company National Accident Helpline will sponsor the shirt next season, with their logo featuring on the sleeve of their kit.

Usain Bolt signs for Manchester United

The Metro were at it again – and this time they reported that the world’s fastest sprinter, and Red Devils fan, Usain Bolt had agreed a short-term deal with Manchester United to play in their reserves.

Paul Pogba agrees to £83m return to Old Trafford

The Sun tweeted that the highly sought-after Paul Pogba and his future had finally been confirmed on April Fools’ day – with a comical print screen of iMessage negotiations between the Juventus star and Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

According to the chat, Pogba will be making a return to Old Trafford for a fee of £83m…
