Here’s how United fans voted for their best XI to look next season:

GK: David de Gea

No surprises here, United fans have chosen for David de Gea to remain as number one as they will clearly want the talented goalkeeper to stay at Old Trafford.

DR: Rafael

Not a regular for United this season, but a player who has shone in the past and who may deserve more of a chance at right-back.

DL: Luke Shaw

Another player making a slow start to life at Old Trafford, Luke Shaw is still highly thought of by Red Devils fans and starts at left-back here.

DC: Mats Hummels

One of the best defenders in the world, Mats Hummels is a favoured signing for United after his excellent form for Borussia Dortmund and Germany over the years.

DC: Raphael Varane

A top young player struggling for regular playing time at Real Madrid, United fans would poach Raphael Varane to add to their defence. A little harsh on Marcos Rojo perhaps?

MC: Michael Carrick

A player who has shown his worth this season, Michael Carrick remains a key part of this United team and keeps his place in midfield.

MC: Ander Herrera

An underrated player, Ander Herrera looks like he deserves more of a chance to start games after a fine start to his career in the Premier League.

AMR: Memphis Depay

A talented young Dutch winger currently with PSV, Memphis Depay is selected on the right-hand side as United fans hope to see the exciting youngster make the move to Old Trafford.

AML: Gareth Bale

With no room for Angel Di Maria, Real Madrid star Gareth Bale instead lines up on the left-hand side of the attacking midfield positions.

AMC: Juan Mata

A player in fine form at the moment, Juan Mata takes the number ten role in a three-man attacking midfield.

FC: Wayne Rooney

With Mata in the hole, Wayne Rooney is pushed upfront to his preferred position, with no room for Robin van Persie or Radamel Falcao.
