Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers denies dressing room revolt speculation

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has rubbished talk of a dressing room revolt after reports last night (via the Daily Mirror) claimed that there were heated words exchanged with some of his senior players following the embarrassing defeat to Arsenal, Sky Sports reports.

The Red were outclassed for much of the game on Saturday, their defensive showing was below-par and after the disappointing defeat at home to Man United before the international break, the team has failed to deliver the goods during a crucial period.

This has led to claims that Rodgers was in the midst of an internal crisis but speaking to the media ahead of the FA Cup replay at Ewoood Park against Blackburn, the Northern Irishman was quick to dispel those stories.

“We have lots of meetings here in terms of analysing performance and it was no different to a whole host of meetings we have all year,” the Liverpool boss told reporters.

“Those meetings helped us recover from the bad start we had to win 10 games out of 13.

“It was nothing really; it was just analysing performance, analysing where we are at and then feeding forward to the players. With seven games to go and an FA Cup quarter-final the objectives we can clearly achieve between now and the end of the season. It is just unfortunate something else was made up.”

Liverpool’s tie against Blackburn Rovers has suddenly become arguably their most important game of the season and defeat is unthinkable for the club. Without a trophy since their league cup success in 2012, Rodgers will be desperate to show his owners some tangible progress during his tenure at the club.
