1) Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool’s matchwinner against Blackburn Rovers with another important goal this season, Philippe Coutinho is an absolutely oustanding young player and has instantly become one of the Reds’ most crucial performers since he joined the club from Inter Milan in 2013. The Brazilian will surely be chased by bigger teams before long but is one player the Merseysiders simply must hold on to if they are to play the kind of football that has become tradition under the management of Rodgers.

2) Jordan Henderson

A midfielder who combines great energy, commitment and passion with the right level of technique, skill and vision, Jordan Henderson is the ideal candidate to replace Steven Gerrard as captain and could become a legend at Anfield if he maintains this level of performance in Rodgers’ side.

3) Raheem Sterling

A superb young player with the world at his feet, Raheem Sterling may be casting his future into doubt somewhat at the moment, but is another star the Reds simply have to keep hold of as he can potentially develop even more in this system and become one of the best attacking players in the world.

4) Daniel Sturridge

With Luis Suarez leaving last summer, one half of the amazing SAS combination is gone and the other half has to stay at Liverpool. Daniel Sturridge has his injury problems, no doubt, but is one of the most technically gifted strikers in England on his day and a vital source of goals in this Reds team so full of skillful playmakers. It’s hard to imagine many strikers who’d suit Rodgers’ tactics better, and hopefully he can get back to his best next season after a difficult year.

5) Emre Can

A young player who has shone at centre-back this season despite previously being a midfielder, Emre Can looks like another superb prospect for the future of this football club, fitting perfectly into Liverpool’s 3-4-3 formation that has served them so well in the second half of the season.
