Some departures will be more welcome than others, but some surprise names feature in this long list of players who will no doubt need replacing in the transfer market…

1) Robin van Persie

Linked by the Metro with a swap deal that would see him join Juventus as part of a deal for United to sign Paul Pogba, it looks increasingly likely that Robin van Persie’s poor form this season has cost him his future at the club.

2) Juan Mata

In a highly surprising move given his fine recent form, Juan Mata could also head to Juventus this summer as the Turin giants seek replacements in midfield for the in-demand Pogba, with the Metro reporting a possible £18.3m bid for the Spaniard.

3) David de Gea

Another player who seems to be considering his future at United is star goalkeeper David de Gea, who is wanted by Real Madrid, according to Sky Sports.

4) Adnan Januzaj

A highly promising young player struggling for regular games this season, Adnan Januzaj could make a surprise exit from United this summer as Everton reportedly come calling, according to the Metro.

5) Chris Smalling

Although the Independent reports that Chris Smalling is perfectly happy to stay at United, it is said that Arsenal could come in for him again this summer as his place in Louis van Gaal’s side looks far from safe.

6) Radamel Falcao

According to the Daily Star, one of the shock moves of the summer could happen as Liverpool eye a move for United loan flop Radamel Falcao, making it two strikers leaving the club at the end of the season.

7) Tom Cleverley

Finally, Everton could make it a double raid on United as they ponder a move for loaned out midfielder Tom Cleverley, who has struggled to impress at Aston Villa this season, the Metro reports.
