Burnley vs Arsenal: Gunners duo reach respectable milestone

Here is how the Gunners rated.

GK) David Ospina – 7

Had little to do all game but when called into action, was calm and efficient.

RB) Hector Bellerin – 7

Continues to impress down the right and with Ramsey in front of him, was Arsenal’s main outlet down the right.

CB) Per Mertesacker – 8

Sensational performance from the skipper and apart from an early moment which scared the visitors, was fantastic positionally.

CB) Laurent Koscielny – 8

Played Burnley’s front two very well, the hosts knock-down tactic was snuffed out impeccably. Won all of his aerial duels too.

LB) Nacho Monreal – 7

Another solid display from the Spaniard which is bad news for Kieran Gibbs. Arsenal’s back four produced a mature performance.

CDM) Francis Coquelin – 8

Arsenal’s security blancket and the amount of times he won back possession for his side was countless. The magicians up front are comfortable in their positions knowing Coquelin is there to back them up.

CM) Santi Cazorla – 7

Kept Arsenal ticking over and put his foot on the ball to calm the home side down on a number of occasions.

CAM) Mesut Ozil – 7

Always seems to pick out the right pass and could’ve had a couple of assists had his teammates finished more ruthlessly.

AML) Alexis Sanchez – 8

Even when the Chilean is not scoring, his unbelievable workrate is frightening at times and Burnley’s back four weren’t afforded time on the ball.

AMR) Aaron Ramsey – 8

Scored the eventual winner and continues to do a job for the team on the right of midfield.

CF) Olivier Giroud – 6

Arsenal’s in-form man was kept quiet and it wasn’t his type of game. Burnley defended deep and Giroud was often surrounded.

Substitutes.

Danny Welbeck – 6

Came on in the last 10 minutes for Giroud and seemed to be more effective than the Frenchman during his time on the pitch. Had the England man started, Burnley may have not been able to handle his pace.

Calum Chamber – N/A

Was brought on for Alexis to run down the clock.
