Boca have now scored 33 goals already this year (18 in the Libertadores and 15 in the league) and have gone eight games without conceding. They have picked up an impressive 38 points out of a possible 42 in the league and continental competition combined.

Last night’s result also means we could have an Argentinian Super Clasico in the next stage of the Copa Libertadores. Unlike the Champions League, the last 16 in the South American tournament are seeded, and Boca are well on their way to being seeded as number one while River Plate would almost certainly be seeded 16th if they make it out of Group 6.

Not everything is perfect for Boca, however. Last night they lost winger Cristian Erbes to injury. The winger is now likely miss two m0nths of action due to a sprained ligament in his left knee that will require 6 to 8 weeks to recover. Erbes had to leave the Uruguayan capital on a private jet as soon as the game finished.
