Liverpool face Newcastle United on Monday night, knowing that  a win will take them to within just four points behind fourth placed Manchester City and the Champions League qualification places. Brendan Rodgers will surely be fancying his side against a team that has lost their last four games, with Toon boss John Carver also without a number of players through injury.

The Reds are set to welcome back 19-year-old Jordon Ibe from a knee problem that has kept him out for the last six weeks. However, they could have problems at the back. Emre Can returns from suspension, but Martin Skrtel is still banned and Mamadou Sakho has a hamstring injury. Captain Steven Gerrard is also still suspended for his stamp on Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera.

Mario Balotelli and Adam Lallana are also likely to miss out with an illness and a groin injury respectively. Meanwhile Daryl Janmaat could be back from a calf problem for the Magpies but Rolando Aarons and Siem de Jong are still on the sidelines.
