This summer should be no different, with some exciting players coming to the end of their contracts and available to move for free. Here are some of the biggest names who will be moving:

Sami Khedira

The World Cup winner has had a torrid season with Real Madrid, having started a measly five games due to injury problems. He will be making his way out of the Bernabeu come summer and has been the subject of interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, though he looks likely to join Bundesliga side Schalke.

Yehven Konoplyanka

The Ukrainian has been a long term target of Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Roma. The Reds even had a failed attempt to buy the Dnipro man on January transfer deadline day in 2014 and are likely to be looking at him once again, but for free this time.

James Milner

England international James Milner looks to be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium, with both Liverpool and Arsenal looking at bringing him in, according to The Daily Star. The former Leeds man won’t have a shortage of suitors, due to him taking up a home grown player spot in the European quota.

Andrea Ranocchia

Despite having previously spoken about signing a new contract with Italian giants Inter Milan, Ranocchia still hasn’t pledged his future to the club looks likely to see four years at the San Siro come to an end. The 27-year-old Italian international has featured heavily in the Nerazzuri team this season, starting 30 matches and would be missed by them.

Andre Ayew

The Ghanaian international has recently spoken about how he would see it an honour to join Liverpool, though the Anfield club face a battle on their hands with a host of other possible Premier League suitors. Newcastle, Swansea and Everton are also touted by The Daily Mail as potential destinations for the son of Abedi Pele.

Dani Alves

Since joining Barcelona from Sevilla in 2008, Dani Alves has gone some way to redefining the right back role as he plays like more of an attacker. Nevertheless, he has played his part in one of the most successful teams for generations and with four La Liga titles, and two Champions League triumphs on his CV, he will be a wanted man.

Ignazio Abate

A recent mainstay of a faltering AC Milan side, but Abate has only started 16 Serie A games for the side this season. It seems reasonable to assume, for a player with his career at stake, that he will want a move to somewhere more promising and on the way up, instead of down.

Andre-Pierre Gignac

Gignac has been at Marseille for the past five years, but announced he wanted to leave the French giants this December with his contract up at the end of the season. Back in October, The Mirror had tipped Arsenal as front runners for his signature, but at the moment the 20 goal man’s next club is a mystery.

Danny Ings

The Burnley man has enjoyed a reasonably debut season in the Premier League, attracting glances from Liverpool and Real Sociedad. While Ings has traveled to San Sebastian in Spain to meet with Sociedad manager David Moyes, he is yet to sign a pre-contract with them, leaving the door open for the Reds or an extended stay at Turf Moor.

Nigel de Jong

Nigel de Jong left Manchester City in 2012, but looks to want out of AC Milan after a shocking season for the former champions of Europe with Manchester United touted as a possible destination by Metro. At the age of 30, he is currently at a point in his career where the wrong choice could see him fade into mediocrity.

Glen Johnson

In a move which will delight all Liverpool fans, Glen Johnson has already spoke of his desire to kick start his career again by leaving Anfield at the end of his contract. The England international is on a six figure wage and is looking to a possible move abroad.

Ron Vlaar

Ron Vlaar’s future will seemingly be decided by where Aston Villa finish in the Premier League table. It is unlikely the Villans will be able to keep hold of the Netherlands international should they get relegated, though if they retain their top flight status it would not be a surprise to see him stay at Villa Park.

Maxi Pereira

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the 30-year-old Uruguayan right back, by Metro, and he has played in 27 Liga Sagres games for the league leaders, Benfica. The full back has certainly picked up a habit of winning with the Lisbon side, claiming two league titles, one Portuguese cup, five Portuguese League cups and has been a Europa League runner up twice.
