Here is our predicted top five…

5) Olivier Giroud, Arsenal

With games against Manchester United and Chelsea still to come it is unlikely that the Frenchman will continue the run which has seen him score six goals in his last seven appearances. However, with 14 already, the much maligned forward is still likely to make the top five.

4) Diego Costa, Chelsea

Despite having been the top scorer for much of the season, Costa has got injured at just the wrong time. Now on 19, the 26-year-old is still going to break the 20 goal mark but won’t come top.

3) Charlie Austin, Queens Park Rangers

Amazingly for a player in the relegation fight the former bricklayer has netted 17 times already, and looks set to get even more. Even if the Rs go down, it will almost definitely not be the last time we see Austin in the Premier League.

2) Harry Kane, Tottenham

It may fit the fairytale for the 21-year-old to win the golden boot, but sadly it may not work out that way. The revelation hasn’t been in the same form that saw him be called up to the England squad recently, and it looks likely he will fall just short. The striker will still break the 20-mark though, with him already on 19.

1) Sergio Aguero, Manchester City

The 26-year-old may have watched his team lose on Sunday, but he also scored twice and looked back in the sensational form he had before being injured over Christmas. It would be very impressive for the Argentine to win despite being injured for seven games.
