A Chelsea star has made it in to the top ten, as well as the easily predicted Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Here is the list…

10) Diego Costa, Chelsea, involved in 22 league goals

In his first season in the Premier League Costa has shown all of his ability, coupled with all of his anger. In the midst of this he has managed to grab 19 goals and three assists. Not a bad debut campaign.

9) Thomas Muller, Bayern Munich, involved in 23 league goals

Despite not seeming to really do that much when he is on the pitch, the World Cup winner managed to get 13 goals and 10 assists so far.

8) Neymar, Barcelona, involved in 23 league goals

Ahead of Muller as he has scored 18 times to the German’s 13. Some think the 23-year-old has disappointed after a lightning start to the campaign, but being involved in the eighth most goals in Europe isn’t too bad is it?

=6) Carlos Tevez, Juventus, involved in 24 league goals

The Argentine seems to be enjoying life in Turin, scoring 17 goals in Serie A. It certainly seems that he is much more at home there than Manchester, where he complained of homesickness according to the Daily Mail.

=6) Arjen Robben, Bayern Munich, involved in 24 league goals

Why don’t more players just cut in and shoot? It certainly seems to work for 31-year-old, who has exactly the same amount of goals (17) and assists (7) as Tevez this season. This form has been continuing since the World Cup, where the Dutchman was able to fire his team in to the semi-finals.

5) Sergio Aguero, Manchester City, involved in 25 league goals

After an amazing run of form at the start of the campaign the Argentine seemed to tail off after a knee injury over Christmas. However, he netted twice in the Manchester derby and now looks ready to put defences to the sword again to add to his 19 goals.

4) Kevin de Bruyne, Vfl Wolfsburg, involved in 28 league goals

Should Chelsea have kept the Belgian? After being sold by the Stamford Bridge outfit in the summer, de Bruyne has been playing like a man with a point to prove. An impressive 17 assist have come as a result, and if his new team keep hold of him the 23-year-old could help them challenge Bayern Munich.

3) Alexandre Lacazette, Lyon, involved in 30 goals

The striker has helped his team to try and end the dominance in Ligue 1 with his 24 goals. The only question mark over him is that they were scored in the French top flight. Should as much significance be held for him as is for Premier League strikes?

2) Lionel Messi, Barcelona, involved in 49 goals

After seeming out of sorts in 2014, the four time Ballon d’Or winner has looked back to his best since the new year. 34 goals and 15 assists are amazing numbers. Could he be set to add a fifth player of the year award to his haul? It wouldn’t be undeserved as yet.

1) Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid, involved in 50 goals

Cristiano Ronaldo’s relentless pursuit of individual awards have gained him something of a reputation for selfishness, but the Portuguese superstar is the most productive player in Europe. His 12 assists are the fifth highest total of all players in Europe’s top five leagues, and he has directly contributed to 50 goals.
