Alexandre Lacazette & nine of Europe’s finest we wish would come to England

Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Newcastle look set to give up any remaining hopes of signing French international forward Alexandre Lacazette this summer, with the Daily Star tipping him to sign a new contract with Lyon.

The striker has become one of the hottest properties in Europe this season, and his apparent commitment to the Ligue 1 giants will come as a big blows to any neutrals who were hoping to see him lighting up the Premier League.

Of course, he’s not the only man we wish we could have over here. This is who we’d take if we were being greedy…

10) Hulk (Zenit Saint Petersburg)

He’s enjoyed a wonderful goal to game record in both Portugal and Russia, with 17 in all competitions so far this season. The Brazilian international enjoys being the main man, so there are question marks over whether he’d make it at a top English club, but we’d love to see it.

9) Miralem Pjanic (AS Roma)

The playmaker has played a decisive role in the Italian side’s domestic success over the last couple of years. A number of Premier League sides appear to be chasing a suitable midfield linchpin; particularly Liverpool, who are about to lose Steven Gerrard, so he could be a top candidate.

8) Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund)

The towering defender has enjoyed a miserable season with Dortmund, coming off the back of a successful World Cup campaign with Germany. Their lack of European football is likely to ensure that a number of their top stars move on, with Hummels likely to be high on many wishlists.

7) Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)

The Argentine international was another star of last summer’s World Cup, helping his team reach the final. He’s scored 24 goals already this season, matching his tally of the previous campaign. However, he deserves to be playing Champions League football next term.

6) Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

Has endured an indifferent start to his Munich career, at least by his own personal high standards. This has alerted a number of teams who would no doubt be desperate to take him on. World class strikers are always so hard to come by, what a difference he could make over here.

5) Kevin de Bruyne (Wolfsburg)

The Belgian was clearly not given a fair chance by Chelsea, because in Germany he has been nothing short of a revelation. He’s been scoring and creating goals for fun, and has helped inspire his side to second place in the league and the quarter-final of the Europa League.

4) Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

The 23-year-old has scored 29 goals in just 35 games so far this season, firing Lyon into title contention. He’s also off the mark for the French national team and is now a top striking candidate for a whole host of Premier League teams, particularly those in need of more goals.

3) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

Another of Dortmund’s stars who could be on his way out at the end of the season, should they fail to turn around their fortunes in the final games. The 25-year-old has struggled with injuries, but if he can keep himself fit he’d be an incredible signing for any number of teams.

2) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint Germain)

The 28-year-old Uruguayan is another player who’s been at the top of the European scoring charts for several years. The former Napoli man has scored 45 goals in 85 games during his first two seasons in the French capital, and would be a great fit in the Premier League.

1) Paul Pogba (Juventus)

The former Manchester United midfielder has developed into one of the worlds best young players since his move to Italy. It will likely take a huge fee to tempt the Champions League quarter-finalists into selling their prize asset, but at just 22 he’d surely be worth the price.
