Old Trafford side want Villa Park powerhouse.
Man United are eyeing up a summer move for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke according to the Daily Star.
Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal is unlikely to look to make Radamel Falcao’s loan move to the club a permanent one and Robin van Persie’s Man United future is in doubt and as such a move for a fresh attacker isn’t that surprising.
24 year old Belgian Benteke has had an up and down time of it this term, struggling with form and fitness, but van Gaal is said to have been suitably impressive by the Aston Villa star’s recent performance against Man United.
The Daily Star value Benteke at £25m, something of a massive increase on the £7m Villa paid Racing Genk in August 2012, and no doubt the powerful marksman would be interested in a move to Man United.
Benteke netted 23 goals in his first season at Aston Villa but has managed just 11 in each of the two following campaigns but this hasn’t lessened van Gaal’s interest.
