Luis Suarez admits to nerves prior to signing Barcelona from Liverpool

Barcelona’s in-form striker Luis Suarez admits it taken him a while to find his feet in Spain but he now feels part of the furniture at the Camp Nou.

Suarez joined Barcelona from Premier League side Liverpool for a reported fee of £75m (via BBC) last summer but he missed the first three months of the season due to a ban for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

After a slow start to his career at the Camp Nou the Uruguayan striker has hit form at just the right time for the Catalan giants, scoring 19 goals in all competitions – including a stunning brace in the Champions League first leg quarter-final tie against Paris Saint-Germain last week – and was on the scoresheet yet again at the weekend in a 2-0 win over Valencia in La Liga.

All of this is on the back of netting the winner in El Clasico against Real Madrid last month – which went some way in repaying the huge transfer fee.

Suarez is one third of a devastating forward line including himself, Lionel Messi and Neymar – which the Uruguayan admits was intimidating upon his arrival:

“When I arrived I was timid with Messi and Neymar but they just said to me to play as I had done at Liverpool. Now I feel fine off and on the pitch and we have a good time together.” he told reporters at a press conference ahead of the second leg (via Sky Sports).

“When things were not going well for me I was grateful for the support of people close to me. The players always were behind me and so was the coach.” he added.
