‘It’s a disgrace’: Arsenal superfan calls for Fabregas banner to be taken down before Chelsea clash

While the Stamford Bridge outfit have been top of the Premier League since the first day of the season, the Gunners have had to win their last eight matches in order to even get close to touching distance of the Blues.

The English duo are joined by some of the biggest clubs on the continent. The next step for the pair will surely be to compete with these sides on the European stage. No British teams got past the last 16 stage of the Champions League this season.

Here are the top five performing sides in Europe’s best five divisions in 2015…

5) Juventus, 2.27 points per game

Three successive Serie A titles look like becoming four with the Turin based side fifteen points ahead of second placed Lazio. However, the next big test for the Bianconeri will be whether they can continue this without star player Paul Pogba. The 22-year-old looks likely to leave Juve in the summer.

4) Chelsea, 2.31 points per game

Despite the general feeling that the Stamford Bridge outfit have tailed off in the second half of the campaign, the Blues are still top of the Premier League by ten points. The fact that they are the fourth best side in Europe this year and still thought to be underperforming says a lot about how good Chelsea could be.

3) Bayern Munich, 2.33 points per game

Running away with the Bundesliga again, the Bavarian club also impressively beat Porto 6-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Their domination of the German domestic scene has if anything made the league become boring, so it is no surprise that Pep Guardiola has guided them to this impressive record.

2) Barcelona, 2.5 points per game

Having Real Madrid breathing down you neck must be a great motivator, and the Catalan side have used it to great effect. Two points clear at the top of La Liga, and a late season match against Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon could decide the title.

1) Arsenal, 2.54 points per game

Amazingly the only side not top of their league in the top five is in first place. Had the Gunners been able to perform like this when the pressure was on they could have had a chance in the title race. However, yet again the North London club have waited until its too late to show their best form.
