Fans voted in a poll run by Madrid daily newspaper Marca, and the rival fanbases both indicated that they would rather see their heroes take on one of the other two sides left in the last-four, Bayern Munich or Juventus.

More than 60% of Real followers want to come up against Juventus, with 20.2% keen on Bayern and 19.4% preferring old enemies Barca.

More than half of fans of the Catalan giants would like to see a showdown with their old head coach Pep Guardiola, now of Bayern, with 27% wanting Juventus and 18.5% pining for Real.

An entertaining end to the quarter-final stages saw Barca get the better of Paris Saint-Germain and Real eliminate city neighbours Atletico Madrid to book their places in tomorrow’s draw.

Serie A champions Juventus were too good for Monaco, while Bayern destroyed Porto with a 6-1 second leg triumph, having lost the first meeting 3-1 in Portugal.

Holders Real are looking to become the first team in the modern era to win the competition in successive seasons, since it changed to the Champions League format.
