Inter Milan plan to make a season-long loan offer for Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic with an option to buy, according to reports in Italy.
Respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims on his website that the Serie A club has been in talks with the player’s entourage for some time, but an agreement with the Blues is yet to be reached.
However, their new strategy is to request a loan deal for the entirety of the 2015-16 campaign, with a view to buying him on a permanent basis next summer.
The former Fiorentina man has fallen out of favour under manager Manuel Pellegrini and was dropped from City’s Champions League squad in February, in favour of new signing Wilfried Bony.
He is by no means the only City player being pursued by Inter, with midfielder Yaya Toure thought to be high on their wishlist.
A bid for left-back Aleksandar Kolarov is, however, said to be too expensive.
