Brendan Rodgers has made the bold claim that there is no better man than himself to lead Liverpool back to success on the Premier League and European stage.
The 42-year-old’s future at Anfield has been put under the spotlight over the past week following his side’s exit from the FA Cup at the hands of relegation-threatened Aston Villa.

When questioned over whether he believes he will remain in charge next season, he confidently replied,
“Very much so. I don’t think there’s anyone better. That’s the reality of how I see it,” the Northern Irishman was quoted by the Daily Star as saying.
“Three months ago I was a tactical genius, performing to a good level. We lost some important games and now I’m not so good. That’s football, people will speculate.”
Nonetheless, while Rodgers believes there is no one better suited to the job – he is also the first Liverpool boss to go three seasons without winning a trophy since the 1950s.
The FA Cup was the Reds’ last chance of finishing the season with a title, but defeat in the semi-final to Tim Sherwood’s men on Sunday afternoon ensured that it would be another disappointing campaign for the Merseyside club.
It has been a challenging term for the former Swansea City manager, with a number of his summer signings, including Mario Balotelli, failing to prove their worth on the pitch.
Despite a superb run of form following the festive period, they have drifted from the top four and, at the same time, Rodgers has had to contend with off the field scandals, mainly involving Raheem Sterling.
However, the Anfield faithful will be buoyed by the news that star midfielder Jordan Henderson, who is set to replace Steven Gerrard as club captain in the summer, signed a new long-term contract on Thursday afternoon, the LFC official website announced.
