OM have made no secret of the fact that they have no plans to offer the France international a new contract this summer.

The 33-year-old arrived at the Stade Velodrome in 2011, after stints with Stade Rennais and OGC Nice, and has been a fine servant to the club.

While he has been revitalised under Marcelo Bielsa—and was in superb form against Racing Club de Lens back in March—the veteran has started creaking.

The Olympians are keen to freshen their defensive options, and have impressive rookie Benoit Aloe waiting in the wings, keen for more game time.

However, while Fanni seemingly has no place at Marseille, he may be set for a switch to Anfield.

The Guardian have reported that Liverpool are aware of Fanni’s contractual situation in Provence and are keen to secure a player who could be an ideal replacement for the experienced Kolo Toure.

Liverpool are also linked with Fanni’s teammate Andre Ayew, whose contract also comes to an end this summer.
