The 27-year-old has certainly played alongside some of the best in the game, as you can tell from his chosen XI…

GK) Carlos Kameni

Song is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail that: “He could have played at one of the top teams in the Premier League.” Currently at Malaga, that doesn’t look like materialising, but the Cameroon international is a solid keeper nonetheless.

RB) Dani Alves

The Brazilian is one of the best attacking full-backs in the world, but could maybe improve defensively. His old teammate thinks: “He plays like a joke.”

LB) Jordi Alba

Another great player going forward. The Spain international is a “small bike” according to Song because he never stops running.

CB) Carlos Puyol

Since their inspirational captain retired, Barcelona have noticeably lost their unbeatable reputation, and the defender would almost definitely be the captain of this side.

CB) Rigobert Song

Song’s cousin gets in to the side ahead of players such as Gerard Pique, is it just because he’s family? Rigobert did make 137 appearances for Cameroon to be fair.

CM) Xavi

Possibly the best passer of a ball to ever play the game, it is no surprise that the Barca legend makes it in. At 35-years-old though, surely the Spaniard can’t go on for much longer.

CM) Andres Iniesta

Where would Xavi be without his partner in possession? Now attempting to take up the mantle by himself because of the age of his teammate, and Song believes he is a “magician”.

CM) Cesc Fabregas

Although he is no longer the heir to the last two midfielders anymore, the 27-year-old is still good enough to help Chelsea to a Premier League title. Why did Arsene Wenger not re-sign him we will never understand.

LW) Neymar

As Song himself points out, the Brazilian is just 23-years-old and already one of the best players in the world. Who knows what he can achieve when he really hits his prime.

RW) Lionel Messi

“The best player I have seen in my life” according to Song, and possibly one of the best ever. No dream XI is complete without the diminutive Argentinian.

ST) Thierry Henry

“Thierry is the king.” Many Arsenal fans will echo that sentiment, and with good reason too. Also a success at Barcelona, the forward seems to tick all of the boxes to get in to this side. He even pushes Messi out on to the wing!
