The Old Trafford side are reportedly close to completing deals to bring in PSV Eindhoven’s Memphis Depay and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and this source states that a move for £18m rated Lazio centre-back Stefan de Vrij is also on the cards.

Van Gaal knows de Vrij well from his time in charge of the Dutch national team set-up and would greatly aid Man United’s push to solidify their defence.

Sky Sports claim that a £21.5m move to bring in Gundogan is almost complete and the defensively minded midfielder will add quality in the centre of the park.

It will apparently take £25m to land Depay, another of van Gaal’s former Dutch national team charges, according to the Daily Mail.

With a Champions League berth all but secured Louis van Gaal should be able to lure top talents to Man United this summer as the veteran manager looks to improve his squad sufficiently to mount a Premier League title challenge in 2015/16.
