Here is how the team should line up:

David de Gea

The Spanish goalkeeper is attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid thanks to his remarkable showing between the posts this season. It remains to be seen whether he will accept the huge contract offer at Old Trafford, but nothing will stop him starting the game.

Antonio Valencia

Slowly but surely, Antonio Valencia is growing into his role as a right back. He still struggles with some defensive parts of the game, but game by game is developing his reading of the game and intelligence.

Chris Smalling

Recently signed a new four year contract at at club and has celebrated with some impressive performances. He should have enough to help his inexperienced defensive partner through the game.

Paddy McNair

The young Northern Irishman has been given somewhat of a baptism of fire this season thanks to Manchester United’s many defensive crises. Despite being on the losing side against Chelsewa last week, he showed a performance which belied his young age.

Luke Shaw

Ex-Southampton full back hasn’t done as well as he’d hoped or progressed as much as he would have liked thanks to a disappointing start to the season with his club and a run of niggling injuries.

Daley Blind

Should return from an ankle injury to provide a much needed sense of calm and experience back into the Red Devils’ midfield in the absence of Michael Carrick.

Ander Herrera

Following a prolonged run in the side, the Spaniard has started to show Premier League fans what he’s all about in fits and starts. He’ll hope to put Everton’s leaky defence to the sword.

Marouane Fellaini

The domineering Belgian has managed to work his way into Manchester United’s side and become a key figure, scoring six goals in 28 games and providing a presence in the box.

Juan Mata

Another player who has flourished under Louis van Gaal, scoring nine goals and assisting four. His crowning moment in a Manchester United shirt this season came away at Liverpool and he will hope to do well in the same city again.

Ashley Young

Recently the former Aston Villa man’s performances have all but secured his Old Trafford future for the time being. He looks a completely new player under the Dutch boss and looks likely to finish the season strongly.

Wayne Rooney

The hub of the team, Manchester United are not the same without this former Evertonian in the team. He often doesn’t perform well at Goodison Park, but will hope to put that to bed.
