10) Arsene Wenger, Ryan Giggs, Rory McIlroy, Sir Nick Faldo – £38m

In joint tenth place, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a new name to the top ten list for this year, joining Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs and golfers Rory McIlroy and Sir Nick Faldo.

9) Frank Lampard – £39m

Formerly of Chelsea, Frank Lampard is now at Manchester City and remains one of the wealthiest footballers in the game with a £39m fortune.

7) Jose Mourinho, Luol Deng – £40m

Level in seventh place are Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, whose £40m personal wealth is matched by basketballer Luol Deng.

6) Steven Gerrard – £42m

A player past his best and set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, Steven Gerrard is still a huge name in British sport and makes it into sixth place with £42m.

Tennis star Andy Murray is in fourth place with an impressive £48m as he continues to establish himself as a star of his sport.

Down from second in last year’s list, racing driver Jenson Button has to settle for a personal fortune of £71m for 2015.

2) Wayne Rooney – £72m

Moving into second place, Wayne Rooney is the highest placed footballer on the list, with the Manchester United and England captain boasting a £72m personal wealth.

1) Lewis Hamilton – £88m

Some way in front is F1 star Lewis Hamilton, who has a phenomenal £88m fortune for 2015.
