Southampton took the lead twice through Graziano Pelle, but couldn’t make the most of their advantage as first Nacer Chadli and then Erik Lamela equalised.

Here are the player ratings for Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Southampton:

GK) Hugo Lloris – 6.5

Was helpless for both goals, but made a handful of decent saves throughout the game. Spurs may have found things more difficult without the Frenchman between the sticks.

RB) Eric Dier – 7.5

The youngster was ok defensively, although just like the rest of the back line he struggled at times. He got forward fantastically however, and provided both assists.

CB) Jan Vertonghen – 6.5

Bailed his side out a number of times, but couldn’t do much at the heart of a poor defence.

CB) Federico Fazio – 5.5

A poor performance by the Argentine, whose lack of pace is a concern, but doesn’t do enough to make up for it with his positioning and reading of the game.

LB) Ben Davies – 5.0

The former Swansea man was poor at left-back, and his mistake resulted in the first goal. He was substituted prematurely, with the young left-back suffering a nasty shoulder injury.

DM) Nabil Bentaleb – 7.0

One of Tottenham’s best players on the day, the midfielder was aggressive and composed in the centre of the park.

CM) Ryan Mason – 5.0

A disappointing performance from a player who has been superb this season, Mason was poor all afternoon.

His slip put Davies in trouble for the first goal, and he really should have done better.

CAM) Christian Eriksen – 5.5

Nothing seemed to go right for the Dane, who was barely able to have any influence on the game.

He struggled to find space in midfield, and couldn’t do much when faced with Morgan Schneiderlin.

RAM) Erik Lamela – 7.0

He has struggled in a Tottenham shirt, but put in a decent performance against Southampton and even got on the scoresheet – although his goal was a little fortuitous.

LAM) Nacer Chadli – 7.5

An excellent performance from the midfielder, opening the scoring for his side and looking a constant threat.

His finish was fantastic, and he looked eager to double his tally at times.

ST) Harry Kane – 6.5

His movement was decent, but he was never really able to get on the ball in dangerous areas.

The newly capped England international has struggled for goals recently, and that trend looks like continuing.
