Another player impressing in recent times, Ander Herrera has had a good first season at Old Trafford and should remain first choice.

AMR: Memphis Depay

A terrific young winger, Memphis Depay will add goals and quality from out wide for United next season, looking an upgrade on players like Adnan Januzaj, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia.

AML: Angel Di Maria

Still in the starting lineup, Angel Di Maria will surely have a much better second season with United after a slow start this year.

AMC: Juan Mata

Another improved player under van Gaal, Juan Mata looks good enough to remain the trusted number ten here, just behind the main striker.

FC: Wayne Rooney

Still first choice up front, Wayne Rooney should remain a key striker for United even if they do consider replacing Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie.
