Key manchester United midfielder ruled out for the rest of the season

GK – David de Gea

A certain starter. The Spaniard has been the best keeper in the league by a mile. It’s no wonder Real Madrid are chasing his signature.

RB – Antonio Valencia

Albeit not the most reliable defensively; the Ecuadorian has begun to make the position his own. He will have to be at his best to compete with tricky winger Yannick Bolasie.

RCB – Phil Jones

Set to make his return to the starting line-up, Jones has been absent since the victory over neighbours Manchester City.

LCB – Chris Smalling

The England international has impressed in the second half of the season – earning himself a new contract – and looks to finally be settling into the centre-back position for the Red Devils.

LB – Daley Blind

With Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Rafael all out injured, Louis van Gaal is set to be forced to play the midfielder in the defensive position. A huge test for the Netherlands international.

DM – Ander Herrera

The Spaniard has a formidable engine in midfield, and has proved to be a key player for Manchester United after recovering from his early injury problems. Looks to be the readymade replacement for Michael Carrick.

LW – Ashley Young

The winger has been in fine form under new boss Louis van Gaal, and his excellent delivery will be a huge threat for the Eagles from the left flank.

LAM – Wayne Rooney

The Manchester United captain’s best position is undoubtedly up front, but is likely to drop into midfield to make up for the loss of Michael Carrick – who has been ruled out for the rest of the season through injury. A role the England striker is becoming accustomed to playing.

RAM – Marouane Fellaini

The Belgian has hugely impressed in his second season at Old Trafford, becoming a regular in the starting line-up. A huge presence in the opposing box.

RW – Juan Mata

The playmaker has been the star performer in the second-half of the campaign. His creative spark will be needed on Saturday to help clinch three crucial points in the race for fourth place.

ST – Robin van Persie

The forward played the full 90 minutes in the defeat to West Bromwich Albion last weekend. The poor form of Radamel Falcao means the Netherlands striker is expected to retain his starting position up top.
