Take a look at how United could line up next season if they can sign all their reported summer targets.
GK) David De Gea
Rumours will run through the entire summer transfer window as to if the Spanish stopper will make the move to Real Madrid or not. He has been United’s best player this season and manager Louis van Gaal will be desperate to keep hold of his star man.
RB) Nathaniel Clyne
The England international has been strongly tipped to make the switch to Old Trafford in the summer, with reports in the Metro last week suggesting that United had made an improved £18million offer for the Saints defender who has been outstanding yet again this season.
CB) Mats Hummels
The German defender has been linked with a move to Old Trafford since last season and the story has been picked up again recently by the Mirror Online. He could be the key signing that pushes United to the league title next season.
CB) Chris Smalling
Van Gaal seems to have a lot of faith in the England international after handing him a new contract last month and could be the first choice centre-half next season.
LB) Luke Shaw
The youngster admitted to the club’s official website that his debut season has been tough because of numerous injuries. But Shaw has time on his side and should be the first choice left-back next season.
MC) Ander Herrera
After a slow start to his Old Trafford career, the former Athletic Bilbao midfielder has proven his worth in the Premier League since the turn of the year and is a certainty to be apart of the United engine room for years to come
MC) Ilkay Gundogan
Reports in the Mail Online suggest that United along with Arsenal are interested in the German international and could be seen as the long-term replacement for Michael Carrick.
AMC) Wayne Rooney
The club captain has played in just about every position for United this season and with a striker high on the priority list for van Gaal, it could mean Rooney occupies the number 10 role next season.
AMR) Gareth Bale
If United can offload Robin van Persie and Angel Di Maria then a move for the Real Madrid superstar could become a reality. Bale would instantly command a place on the right-wing and allow him to cut in onto his favoured left foot and let fly from long range.
AML) Memphis Depay
The highly-rated Dutch youngster will officially become a United player when the transfer window opens and is expected to play in his favoured left-wing position, where he has scored over 20 goals in the Eredivisie.
ST) Harry Kane
Reports on Friday morning in The Guardian suggested that the Spurs man is a £45million target for van Gaal as he looks to add more fire-power to the ranks at Old Trafford. Should Kane make the switch he could forge a lethal partnership with England team-mate Wayne Rooney.
