The Argentina international was in line for a move to the Parc des Princes last summer, but PSG were forced to full out of the move for financial reasons, having already been hit by financial fair-play sanctions.

Instead, Di Maria moved to United, where things have not gone to plan.

The Champions League winner has been criticised by fans in person and on social media following a string of poor displays. In 26 EPL appearances, he has managed only three goals, although he has contributed 10 assists in a mixed season for the Red Devils.

While Louis van Gaal recently urged the player to remain at Old Trafford beyond the summer, Laurent Blanc’s side are keen to bring the player to Paris.

PSG old boy Roche—who won the Cup Winners’ Cup with the capital club in 1996—believes that the Argentine is exactly what the Parisians need.

“In my opinion, Paris Saint-Germain should recruit a left-sided attacking midfielder,” he began, as reported by Le 10 Sport, “capable of making the different.

“The Argentine Di Maria possesses this profile. He can go on the outside like a winger, pierce a defence, strike, score and play in all of the attacking positions.

“He would be a real asset for the side.”

The English media have revealed that PSG are plotting a loan move for the player with the option to buy him permanently in the future.
