Tottenham set to frustrate Premier League rivals with Barcelona wonderkid bid

Italian news outlet TMW claim that Spurs have stepped up their interest in the Argentine with talks over a deal having intensified between the two clubs in the past few weeks, as Mauricio Pochettino aims to wrap up a transfer early in the summer window.

Tottenham have failed in their bid to return to Champions League football after missing out on a spot in the top four for another season, and are keen to significantly strengthen their attack before the 2015-16 campaign kicks off – knowing that they need more than Harry Kane to deliver the goods up front.

At 30-years-old, Lavezzi would command a fee around €10m to €15m, which means the Ligue 1 champions, if the choose to sell, won’t come close to recouping the €26.5m they paid for his signature three seasons ago.

The forward has fallen out of favour under boss Laurent Blanc, and could turn his back on the Parc des Princes in search of regular first-team football.

He has hugely disappointed since his transfer from Napoli in 2012 – and neither Blanc nor the PSG faithful certainly won’t express grief if he departs.
