Although no transfer fee has been negotiated with the La Liga side, if the player has already given the move a green light a deal may not be far away. The Argentine is valued at £36.5 million according to the paper, which would make him one of the most expensive signings the Red Devils have ever made behind Juan Mata and Angel Di Maria.

This news comes as Goal.com report that fellow United target and centre-back Mats Hummels has decided to stay with Borussia Dortmund for another campaign. It could be a result of this development that the Premier League giants have turned their attention to Otamendi.

The 27-year-old has been a key part of Los Murcielagos’ side this season, making 36 appearances in all competitions. He has helped the Spanish outfit to only concede an impressive 30 goals in 37 La Liga games, and could help shore up a United back line which has looked shaky over the past nine months.
