20) Mauro Zarate (West Ham United)

Signed on a free but still a big disappointment, Mauro Zarate left West Ham for a loan move to Queens Park Rangers in January and has done little for either club this season.

19) Abel Hernandez (Hull City)

Signed for £10m, Abel Hernandez has been desperately poor for Hull City and unable to steer them away from relegation.

18) Brown Ideye (West Bromwich Albion)

Another £10m buy, Brown Ideye has not paid off for West Bromwich Albion at all with just four Premier League goals all season long.

17) Juan Cuadrado (Chelsea)

A player who has barely featured since his £23.3m move from Fiorentina in January, Juan Cuadrado has proven a surprisingly poor signing for Chelsea.

16) Steven Caulker (Queens Park Rangers)

Signed for £8.5m from relegated Cardiff City, Steven Caulker has not done the business for Queens Park Rangers and finds himself relegated again.

15) Jack Rodwell (Sunderland)

A risky signing from Manchester City, Jack Rodwell has proven unreliable for Sunderland too, looking injury prone and unable to find his best fitness and form when he has played.

14) Ben Davies (Tottenham Hotspur)

Signed for £10m from Swansea City, Ben Davies has been unable to break into the Tottenham team and looks a waste of money based on performances so far.

13) Jake Livermore (Hull City)

Signed from Tottenham for £8m, Jake Livermore just isn’t really Premier League standard, and has now failed a drugs test to boot.

12) Calum Chambers (Arsenal)

Despite a promising start, Calum Chambers does not look a great piece of business for Arsenal after an £11m move from Southampton, potentially being fourth choice right-back next season.

11) Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)

An awful misjudgement from Liverpool, £20m for Dejan Lovren looks like madness now after the former Southampton man has totally flopped at Anfield.

10) Emanuel Riviere (Newcastle United)

Despite only costing £6m, Emanuel Riviere has been largely anonymous for Newcastle and looks another poor investment by the club.

9) Sandro (Queens Park Rangers)

Not really a regular at Spurs, Sandro has been unable to make a case for himself with QPR either.

8) Lazar Markovic (Liverpool)

Another big-money Liverpool signing, Lazar Markovic has shown some promise but not yet looked worth the £20m the Reds paid Benfica for him.

7) Wilfried Bony (Manchester City)

Signed for a whopping £28m this January, Wilfried Bony has not looked a worthwhile signing for Manchester City despite shining at previous club Swansea.

6) Danny Welbeck (Arsenal)

A desperately disappointing buy, Danny Welbeck has not made the case for playing regularly upfront after controversially swapping Manchester United for Arsenal this summer.

5) Luke Shaw (Manchester United)

Costing a ridiculous £27m, Luke Shaw has failed to make the step up from Southampton to Manchester United this season.

4) Radamel Falcao (Manchester United)

Only a loan, but another poor piece of business by Manchester United, with Radamel Falcao managing only four goals all season long.

3) Eliaquim Mangala (Manchester City)

Signed for £32m, Eliaquim Mangala has had a very difficult first season in the Premier League for Manchester City, and fans will be hoping he improves fast.

2) Mario Balotelli (Liverpool)

A risky signing, but no one thought it could be this bad – £16m man Mario Balotelli has managed just one Premier League goal for Liverpool in a shocking season.

1) Angel Di Maria (Manchester United)

The most expensive British transfer fee ever paid, £59.7m man Angel Di Maria has not done enough at Manchester United so far, despite a promising start, and is now not even getting into the team.
