Speaking to BBC’s Football Focus, due to be broadcast on Saturday, he slammed the press and quashed the churlish speculation, saying, “My religion, my baptism, I’m very happy.

“People are saying things everywhere about whether I’m a virgin or not. I’m not a virgin,” he added.

“Some people in the press don’t respect people in life. I can put my head on my pillow and sleep great because I respect everyone.”

The gossip over his sex life spread this week following a post on his Instagram page – in which the defender seemed to reveal his view on sex-before-marriage via an image of his baptism in the swimming pool of PSG team-mate Maxwell.

The former Stamford Bridge ace sealed a staggering £50m move to the French capital last summer, and despite laughs aimed in the direction of PSG for paying such a colossal fee, he has gone onto lift the Coupe de la Ligue in his first season at the Parc des Princes.
