1) Paul Pogba (Juventus)

One of the best young players in the world, Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is wanted by Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona this summer. Do Arsenal really have much of a chance? They need a central midfield player, but surely the Frenchman will prove too expensive even if they do have more money these days…

2) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

A superb striker linked with Arsenal again in recent reports, there’s no doubt Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema would be a huge upgrade on Olivier Giroud up front and the closest thing the Gunners will have had to Thierry Henry for a long time.

3) Petr Cech (Chelsea)

A world class goalkeeper without a doubt, Petr Cech has been unlucky to lose his place at Chelsea and could now be on the move for just £10m. Arsenal may be in luck here, with reports suggesting they’re the favourites to snap him up.

4) Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)

Available on a free transfer, Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is another Bernabeu star on Arsenal’s radar, and there’s no question the World Cup winner would be a fantastic signing in a position the Gunners need to strengthen.

5) Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)

Maybe not world class just yet, but Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling is another top young prospect with the world at his feet. Arsenal are among many clubs chasing the Reds contract rebel, and it looks as though he has decided to quit Anfield after refusing to sign a new contract.

6) Arturo Vidal (Juventus)

Linked with a move to Arsenal today, Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal would be another great and ambitious buy for the north Londoners if they could get him.

7) Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund)

One of the best defenders in the world, Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels has supposedly snubbed Manchester United, so could be a realistic signing for Arsenal. The German international has been linked with the club before.

8) Isco (Real Madrid)

Linked several times with Arsenal, Isco is one of the best playmakers in the world on his day and would be another signing to signal major intent for next season.

9) Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

Statistically one of the best strikers in Europe this season, Alexandre Lacazette has looked world class for Lyon and has his best years head of him. Arsenal would face competition from Liverpool for his signature.

10) Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)

Is he quite world class? He’s pretty close – Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League this season and looks exactly what Arsenal need in that all-important position.
