Here’s how we rated the Blues players:

Petr Cech 6

Had a relatively quiet day, but made a couple of fantastic saves on what could be his final appearance for the club. He couldn’t do much about the Sunderland goal.

Branislav Ivanovic 7

The Serbian was great going forward, as he has been all season. He has been a stalwart of the side, and put in another consistent display.

Gary Cahill 7

Has truly put his shaky form earlier in the season behind him. He was solid today, and proved that the Blues are in safe hands when John Terry hangs up his boots.

John Terry 6

Let Steven Fletcher go for the opening goal, but he can be forgiven for that based on his heroic efforts throughout the season. No one deserved to lift that trophy as much as the Blues skipper.

Cesar Azpilicueta 7

Sat in defence with Ivanovic bursting forward, and did everything he had to with little fuss and looked assured.

John Obi Mikel 6

It was an unspectacular performance from the holding midfielder, but it was probably his strongest game of the season.

Nemanja Matic 7

Another excellent effort patrolling the back four, and stopping Sunderland creating any openings in the second half.

Juan Cuadrado 7

Looked lively early on and created a golden chance in the opening minutes which Didier Drogba was unable to convert. His trickery won the penalty for the equaliser. Probably his strongest performance since his January move.

Eden Hazard 8

He recovered from a quiet first-half to put on another scintillating display in the second-half. His skill set up Loic Remy for their second goal.

Willian 8

Caused Sunderland’s defence a number of headaches with his trickery and tireless running.

Didier Drogba 6

Squandered an excellent chance in the first couple of minutes, but today was about paying tribute to one of the Premier League’s best strikers as he bowed out for the final time just before the half-hour mark. He was carried off the field by his teammates.

Subs:

Diego Costa 6

Got the equaliser from the spot, but had a fairly quiet game after coming on early on in the first half.

Loic Remy 8

He staked his claim for a more prominent role at Chelsea with a couple of good goals. His first was a precise finish from the edge of the box, and his second was a real poacher’s effort.

Andreas Christensen 6

Came on late for John Obi Mikel, and had an uneventful Premier League debut, which is probably what he was hoping for.
